Licensing & Registration
All clubs, players and officials need to be licensed for this season.
Basketball Officials' Courses
We are arranging a number of referees' courses this season.
The season 2015-2016 will start in October. We plan to have two men's divisions and a women's division, and weekdays recreational leagues. All clubs, players, coaches and officials must be registered with Basketball England. All games will be played at a central venue. The league will provide officials, equipment, administration and court supervisors, as we have always done.
MEN'S DIVISION ONE
We will have ten teams playing each other twice. The top four teams will qualify for play-offs. We will invite the 8 teams that competed in this division last season and the two teams that were promoted from the Men's Division Two. Club secretaries will need to confirm their participation and make a first contribution towards the league fees by the 31st July 2015.
If we have not filled the ten spots in the division, we will invite teams from last season Men’s Division Two by this order: winner of final B, runner-up of final B, then highest ranked team in regular season.
Fee: £1,100 (this figure may change) + £15 per adult coach/official + £8 per adult player + £70 deposit
Team confirmed (8): Southside Titans, EY Beamers, Latinos BC, Stratford Royals, London Shadows, Soul, Gepeto Brothers and London Sharks
MEN'S DIVISION TWO
We will have eight teams playing each other twice. The top four teams will qualify for play-offs. We will invite the teams that competed in this division last season. Club secretaries will need to confirm their participation and make a first contribution towards the league fees by the 31st July 2015.
If we have not filled the eight spots in the division, we will invite other teams by this order: winner of summer league final, runner-up of summer league final, then highest ranked team in summer league, then any other team that applies.
Fee: £1,100 (this figure may change) + £8 per adult player + £15 per adult coach/official + £70 deposit
To Be Confirmed (5): London Jets, Reebok All Stars, London Eagles and London Spartans, and London Icons
Teams confirmed (4): Mudchute Moneyball, BC Zalia Balta, Mandraikos BCL and London Spartans Warriors
There are about 90 free agents that are looking for a team to play next season. Unfortunately most of the clubs in the league have their own recruitment process and have not given permission to the league to pass their details. We are determined to assist any individual who would like to start a new club to play in the league.
The teams that are currently looking for players are:
London Icons (email@example.com)
London Jet (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Mandraikos BCL (email@example.com
London Sharks (firstname.lastname@example.org)
MEN’S CUP TOURNAMENT
This competition will be mandatory for all men’s teams competing in the league, as last season. For the first time we will open the competition to teams that are not competing in the regular season. The fees will be confirmed. At present we plan a £65 per round and team paid in advance.
The plans for a women’s division are still in progress. We have six teams interested in participating. Once again, availability on weekends and ability to be a self-funding competition are the main issues.
We are working on two weekday events in a central venue where we will offer recreational basketball to both men and women. The set up would be similar to the regular season we play on weekends. The difference will be:
- Introduction of running clock and stop clock games
- Shorter games
- Competitions will be self-funded.
- Players to be registered with Basketball England via central venue league.
