Welcome to London Amateur Basketball League
About the League
Founded in 2006, we have now become one of the largest London-based amateur leagues in basketball. From a mere handful of players and referees back in 2006, we now not only run our own basketball league, but also provide a table and officials appointments service to many other London leagues at junior, university and national level. Licensing & Registration
All clubs, players and officials need to be licensed for this season.
Basketball Officials' Courses
We are arranging a number of referees' courses this season.
Season 2014/2015 will start in the second or third weekend of October. The process of registration is open for all clubs, players and coaches. All competitions will take place at Raines Foundation School (Approach Road, E2), unless stated on fixtures page. These are the terms and conditions:
- the league will continue to subsidise the club registration with England Basketball, £50
- the league will continue to subsidise £2 per adult player's registration with England Basketball. Thus we will charge £8 per adult player's registration instead of £10. This does not apply to coaches, referees, table officials and team followers.
- the league will continue to provide two qualified table officials and two qualified referees for all games. We will expand the work with our sister organisation the London Academy for Basketball Officials.
- the league will provide administration of the website, fixtures, disciplinary matters, equipment, registration, bookings, etc.
- all teams will play each other twice to a minimum of fourteen games (or sixteen if we accept nine teams per division).
We are planning to schedule a Cup Tournament to be played by the 16 teams in both men's divisions. As this is going to be a knock-out tournament, we will charge the clubs according to the rounds they pass. We have budgeted each round £65 per club approximately. We will review this as one of the schools we use has raised their fees and this will have an impact on the fee.
All clubs are expected to play at any time between between 10am and 8pm on weekends. As per handbook, once the fixtures have been uploaded on the website these are confirmed. Any club wishing to postpone a match will need to follow the procedure as per handbook.
Men's Division One: Provisional fee of £930
Men's Division Two: Provisional fee of £930
Women's Division: Provisional fee of £650
You will need to add £70 deposit, £8 per adult player and £12 per adult coach/official. You can register team members (physiotherapist, statistician, member of your committee, etc) for £5. The league fee covers court bookings, officials' fees, registration with EB, and hire/purchase of equipment. All fees are for a division of 8 teams playing each other twice (women's division is 6 teams).
